Since launching, Great Wrap has grown significantly, establishing manufacturing facilities in Victoria and earning B Corp Certification and recognition as a Category Innovator on the AFR Sustainability Leaders List. Great Wrap aims to eliminate the 150,000 tonnes of plastic stretch wrap sent to Australia’s landfill annually.
Julia, drawn to design from a young age, pursued a career in architecture, working across Australia and Europe. Her time in the construction industry revealed the massive waste problem, prompting her to take action. In 2019, Julia co-founded Great Wrap with her husband, Jordy Kay, to tackle plastic waste through material innovation. Today, Great Wrap produces stretch wrap from compostable biopolymers at their factory in Tullamarine. The next decade for Julia will focus on the impact of her business on the planet and future generations.
