Progress Over Perfection
I’ve got a confession to make….
I used to be the ULTIMATE Perfectionist.
Yep, right from when I was a kid.
Everything had to be exactly right, there was absolutely no room for error in my mini world.
I was terrified of getting anything (and by anything I actually mean everything) wrong.
I was once even pulled into the Principals office (over one of those ‘all school’ PA systems) when it was officially declared a ‘problem’.
But when this really became a problem was when I started my own business.
I’d work late into the night, all weekend, and even when I was on ‘holidays’ to get everything just right. Proposals, packages, websites, the whole kit and caboodle has to be seamless.
Pretty quickly I realised that this wasn’t sustainable.
Too much pressure.
Too slow to market.
Not. Much. Fun.
So I did something radical….
I committed to an 80% done and release.
Yep, I actually committed to Imperfectionism.
And it skyrocketed my productivity.
Fast to produce.
Fast to market.
Way. More. Fun.
Having now worked with thousands of Business Owners I can pick a Perfectionist a mile away.
You might even be one yourself….
So having played on both sides of the Perfectionist/Imperfectionist game – with all of my being I’d encourage you to choose progress over perfection.
Aim for 80% and get it out the door.
Because on the other side of Perfection is Freedom.
Promise.
