Pinterest, it’s quickly becoming one of our fave platforms… here are a few of the recent stats on its most popular pinning categories and the latest tools you’ll want to start using today!

New collaboration tools for the events planner

Pinners are big-time party planners. They’re three times more likely to plan an event, and use Pinterest to find those little quirky add-ons or new twists on the more traditional event. The platform is making it even easier to plan events and client projects with the introduction of Group Boards and Group Activity feed.

Discover similar interior design ideas with visual search

With over 14 billion ideas the Home category continues to grow with a 75% increase in pins year on year. The Visual Search function is super handy for the avid home inspo pinner. You can now search for images similar to a pin, you just need to tap the icon on the bottom right corner of the image to start your search. So if you can’t find THE perfect sofa purchase or paint colour for the front door you can hit the Visual Search tool to narrow the search for your ideal purchase.

Foodies love Pinterest and can now rate their creations

With over 19 billion ideas, food and drink are one of Pinterest’s largest categories. People are pulling out their phones to plan meals and make healthier recipes. It’s now also super easy to add notes and photos to recipes with the new Tries functionality. You can use this to add feedback, tips or tricks for yourself or to help others decide if they should give it a go too.

Curating your individual style, one pin at a time

70% of female pinners visit at least once a week to search, save and create their personalised lookbook. It’s a huge category with over 16 billion ideas in the Pinterest stratosphere. So the Pinterest newsroom is busy crunching the research and posting fashion and beauty trends regularly (take note if you’re in the industry) – popular trends today are oversized hoops (big increase of +947%) and the winter beret (+269%).

Pinners are finding it even easier to organise their latest styles and wants with Board Sections. So if you have a Style board you can then have subcategories for things like pants, accessories, winter, summer etc. A dream for the organised pin-nerds amongst us!

So there we have it, it’s more like a search platform than a social platform with some very handy tools you can use and incorporate into your business planning (or just curating your next season wardrobe).
