A conversation with Lucy Alcorn Photography
What do you do:
I am a beauty photographer – shooting both campaign and product imagery.
How do you start your morning?
Coffee! But first of all a wake-up meditation, and then Chancho (my dog) and I go for a walk around our neighbourhood and grab a takeaway coffee or make one at home, before settling in at my desk.
Tea or coffee?
Always coffee 🙂
What are your top 3 values?
Joy
Positive Impact
Refinement
How do your values shape your life & work?
I love what I do every day, I truly think I have the best job in the world, and I hope that enjoyment is shared with everyone I shoot with. I want to create work that makes a difference in people’s lives, through representation or shifting an opinion, or simply making something beautiful which makes you smile. I think there is always room for improvement and it’s a core personal value of mine to find better ways of doing things, to grow and develop.
What does home mean to you?
I live with my partner and our dog and really anywhere they are would be home to me. We moved into a lovely place at the start of the year, and have been slowly improving it room by room, and it’s our little slice of paradise. I am an introvert and so home is where I recharge and am most peaceful.
What do you love doing at home?
I have a collection of about four million plants, I love caring for them and the slow reward of watching them flourish, plus there is something uplifting about having so much life around you.
What book or podcasts are inspiring you right now?
I love Relate and Meditate from my Daisy Clementina – meditation is still new to me and Daisy has a refreshing view on the topic and lots of fabulous guests! I also adore Struthless’ youtube channel – he speaks from the heart and is almost as good as going to therapy. I don’t read books very often but I love listening to them while I retouch photos.
Here are some recent faves:

What does your nightly wind down routine look like?
Nothing that groundbreaking – Netflix, a hot shower, and snuggling up next to my boyfriend and dog 🙂
