A conversation with Jessica Maguire
What do you do:
Help people improve the functioning of their vagus nerve. We help people recover from chronic and traumatic stress to reduce anxiety and burnout.
How do you start your morning?
A walk on the beach or by the Bruns River – even just 5 minutes helps.
Tea or coffee?
Coffee!
What are your top 3 values?
1. Ease – I love when my business, health, relationships and life are in harmony.
2. Learning – about myself and others. Being willing to grow and learn from my mistakes.
3. Compassionate for self and others
How do your values shape your life & work?
Regulation within and without of our business is our core value. This means our team and all of those who come into contact with us have a great experience. Being able to learn, admit mistakes and be willing to grow and adapt has been one of the values that’s brought us the most success. Compassion is the value that fostered the creation of our Scholarship Program. We are proud to have helped hundreds of people recover from chronic and traumatic stress by completing our classes and programs on a scholarship.
What does home mean to you?
The place where I can be completely me, rest, repair, connect, play and come together with friends, family and my partner.
It’s also the place where I create, have meetings and get really creative.
What do you love doing at home?
Cooking is my passion. It helps me unwind and food is so important for connection. I’m a huge fan of Sri Lankan cooking.
What book or podcasts are inspiring you right now?
I frequently listen to Tara Brach who is one of my teachers from the US and reading anything by Dr Daniel Siegel.
What does your nightly wind down routine look like?
After work it’s beach/river walk, dinner, something fun with friends or my partner, cups of tea and a good book or movie.
