A conversation with Jess McLeod from The Conscious Space

Where are you right now?
Sydney, NSW

Tea or coffee?
Coffee!

Tell us a bit about what you do at The Conscious Space & Conscious Work?
18months ago I launched The Conscious Space & Conscious Work. A digital platform and large scale event company designed to champion businesses & people doing good things for the wellbeing of us & our planet.

Why do you do what you do?
After selling my previous company I realised I had learned the skills necessary to support other businesses reach their audience. I wanted to work with people that are making an impact, to perhaps in some way help them grow and by doing so, increase that impact.

What rituals do you have in place to help you get the most out of your day?
My husband leaves for work very early, before he goes he makes me a coffee that I’ll have whilst chatting with my two girls in bed, before I need to get them up and ready for school. Getting that quality time with them, before the school run is very important to me. I could write a whole article of rituals! It’s a topic we dive into deeply with our programming at Conscious Work.

How do you get into flow?
TBH getting into flow has been a challenge for us since Covid hit. Being an events company, having one ( fairly significant) part of the business in such limbo has thrown flow out the window. However, meeting with my team, checking in with our purpose and staying focused on our goals is helping us get back there. We are soon to release a new product to our community which we are very excited about.

What is your favourite thing about running your business?
The speed at which we can change, make decisions and bring things to life. The flexibility it allows my team, and how much I am learning from all the incredible people in our community.

What book, podcast & song are you jamming to at the moment?

Insta feed: @lizandmollie
Podcast: just back from a roadtrip with the kids so it’s @fiercegirls from ABC radio
Book: Cult Status by Tim Duggan

What has been your biggest takeaway from High-End Hustlers so far?
Planning, staying the course and mindset. Learning how to manage each of these.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
Continuing to champion conscious brands, through our digital platform, events and e-commerce. Providing a solid launch pad for brands to make a big impact.

Best piece of business advice you have been given?
To rest.
