Generating New Ideas: How to Inspire Innovation and Lead Creative Teams with Nicole Velik

Our Featured Hustler of the week is none other than our HEH current member Catherine Wijnberg. She is the founder of Stow & Co, plus mama to two beautiful girls! She is a ‘Simple life seeker’, dedicated to making the world a better place through her minimalist pieces and practices.

Where are you right now?
We live in the beautiful Byron area and are about to start building the shed of our dreams on 5 acres in the Byron Hinterland.

Tea or coffee?
Matcha (in my morning smoothie!)

Tell us a bit about what you do?
I’m the founder of Stow & Co, a simple living company. We design and produce minimalist storage wares here in the Byron Hinterland.

Why do you do what you do?
I fell into minimalism many years ago while I was at home raising my girls. The chaos of parenthood had me craving simplicity. So I started simplifying what we owned, how we consumed and what we filled our days with. Seeing what a difference this had made to our lives I just knew I had to share this.

What rituals do you have in place to help you get the most out of your day?
Mornings are all about rituals for me – I wake early and meditate for 10 mins, then a big glass of lemon water, shower, celery juice, get the girls ready for school, heavy metal detox smoothie then school drop off and then I walk the Lighthouse. I then swing by my favourite smoothie bar for my morning Matcha Mango Smoothie. This is my Mon-Fri routine that is set in concrete! Often we’ll wake early and the girls will head for a surf while I walk then we grab smoothies on the way to school. Mornings done well make for a day done well!

How do you get into flow?
Listening to music – LOUD, hanging out with my Tilly girl –  a 4 year old Lab/Border Collie, being in nature.

What is your favourite thing about running your business?
Having choices and being able to design my days so I get a good mix of hustle, calm and adventure.

What book, podcast & song are you jamming to at the moment?
I’m loving Atomic Habits by James Clear, Unlocking Us with Brene Brown and Armin van Buuren Live at Tomorrowland 2018 (played loud!)

If you could have dinner with 3 people (dead or alive), who would they be & why?
Zach Bush MD – brilliant medical mind and advocate for our wellbeing and the planet, Anthony William – Medical Medium for his incredible insights on health and wellbeing , Esther Hicks – spirit channeller of Abraham.

What has been your biggest takeaway from High End Hustlers so far?
The importance of community in building belief and self-confidence.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
Living on our land in the Byron Hinterland then spending 6 months of the year living in the Guanacaste province of Costa Rica amongst rainforest and howler monkeys and the most beautiful beaches.  As Stow & Co continues to grow we also have The School of Minimalism – the place for minimalism how-to teaching workshops and classes around the world.

Best piece of business advice you have been given?
Start with the end in mind.
