Set up your account 8 years ago but haven’t looked at it since (except maybe to stalk the people who have stalked you)? It’s time to dive back into LinkedIn, and to take this platform seriously.
We totally get that LinkedIn had a shaky start – terms that spring to mind would be: crickets, flop, and ‘all hype no action’.
We were pretty sceptical when we heard the rumors that LinkedIn was making a revival, but when our social guru Zoë Weldon started some chatter around the platform we thought we had better take notice.
We’re glad we did because guys, over the past 8 years LinkedIn has got LEGIT!
No more crickets or awkward networking attempts, LinkedIn is pumping and it’s got us excited. If you’re still not super convinced, here’s some stats that will tip you over the edge and have you sprucing up your profile in no time.
- Microsoft, (only one of the most powerful tech companies around) paid $22 BILLION to buy LinkedIn. Need we say more? If Microsoft are investing $22B in this platform, I think it’s a safe bet that us business owners should sit and take notice.
- LinkedIn makes drives 50% of all social traffic for business to business websites and blogs. Let’s let that LinkedIn stat linger for a moment – yep 50% of all business to business traffic is driven by LinkedIn. This is the platforms where the businesses are purposefully investing time online, researching, communicating and actively engaging.
- When you search someone’s name on Google, their LinkedIn profile is the FIRST thing that pops up. Keen for some free SEO goodness? I think yes.
